In state parliament elections, representatives are elected to serve in the state legislature. These representatives are responsible for making laws and policies that affect the state. In local elections, officials such as mayors, city council members, and other local government positions are elected to represent and govern specific cities or regions within the state. These officials are responsible for making decisions that impact the local community, such as managing budgets, overseeing public services, and addressing local issues. **

Local elections are elections that take place at the local level, typically within a specific city, town, or county. These elections are held to choose local government officials such as mayors, city council members, county commissioners, and school board members. Local elections are important because they determine the leadership and policies that directly impact the daily lives of residents within a specific community. These elections are separate from national or state elections and focus on issues and concerns that are specific to the local area. **

Local council elections can be seen as more voter-friendly compared to national elections because they often involve candidates who are more directly connected to the community. Voters may have a better understanding of the issues at stake and the impact of their vote on their immediate surroundings. However, local council elections can also be complicated due to the variety of candidates and issues specific to each locality, which may require voters to be more informed and engaged in order to make well-informed decisions. Ultimately, the level of complexity or voter-friendliness can vary depending on the specific context of the election. **

Voter turnout in local elections is often low due to a lack of awareness and engagement among the general public. Many people may not feel as connected to local issues and candidates as they do to national ones, leading to apathy and disinterest in participating. Additionally, local elections often receive less media coverage and attention, further contributing to a lack of awareness and motivation to vote. Furthermore, the timing and scheduling of local elections may not be convenient for many people, leading to lower turnout. **

Elections can be manipulated by various actors, including political parties, government officials, or external entities like foreign governments or interest groups. Tactics used to manipulate elections can range from voter intimidation and fraud to spreading misinformation and propaganda. It is essential to have strong electoral systems and oversight mechanisms in place to prevent and detect any attempts at election manipulation. **

Surveys can have an influence on elections by shaping public opinion and potentially swaying undecided voters. When surveys show a candidate in the lead, it can create a sense of momentum and inevitability around their campaign, which may encourage more people to support that candidate. Additionally, surveys can also influence campaign strategies, as candidates may adjust their messaging or policies based on survey results in order to appeal to the preferences of the electorate. However, it's important to note that surveys are just one of many factors that can influence election outcomes, and their impact can vary depending on the specific context of the election. **

Yes, there were elections under Napoleon. However, these elections were not democratic in the modern sense, as they were often manipulated to ensure Napoleon's preferred candidates were elected. Napoleon used these elections to legitimize his rule and maintain control over the government. Despite the appearance of democracy, the elections were largely controlled by Napoleon and his supporters. **
